Exhibitor Interview: Maag

We caught up with Michael Eloo, Managing Director at Maag who gives a sneak-preview of what they will be bringing to Compounding World Expo this year.

Maag is the worldwide leading manufacturer of gear pumps, pelletizing systems, filtration systems and pulverizers for demanding applications in the plastics, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food industries. Maag develops, manufactures, and distributes innovative, customized solutions for complete pump and pelletizing systems.

What do you think is currently the biggest challenge facing your industry?

Our industry is challenged like many others by market volatility and uncertainty caused by the automotive downswing, plastic reputation effects and also by the complex overall global market situation.

What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?

Maag has an outstanding melt and dynamic processing know-how over the entire compounding, plastic, polymer, food and pharma production and recycling range, and offers genuine solutions closing the gap towards quality control and automated reliability with latest technology such as our GALA Color and pellet control systems.

Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?

Constant development is occurring within our product range and is right now at different stages of realisation or completion. For the show, we will be looking into specific improvements for the compounding industry such as cleanability and turn around improvements, together with efficiency gaining on our key machines, such as strand and under water pelletizing systems including process water systems and dryers as well as pumps and screen changers. Another hot topic is self-optimizing systems, and quality assurance through smart control systems.

What are you most looking forward to at this years’ show? You attended the launch show in 2018, what did you gain from the experience?

We look forward to meeting our customers and continue the dialog qualifying our latest design ideas made for the specific market needs and expectations going forward. Last time we experienced a very positive spirit throughout our industry and appreciated this new platform bringing compounders together. Many focused discussions took place which also led to several projects.

Maag will be exhibiting at Compounding World Expo in Essen, Germany, 3 - 4 June at stand A130.
