Norbert Merklein has worked for more than 35 years in the Chemicals Industry, and held various Management, Marketing and Sales responsibilities in the Pigments, Additives and Masterbatch business with Hoechst, Clariant and Avient. In earlier years, he held responsibility for Clariant’s Pigments business in Coatings, Clariant’s Group Procurement Services, before taking the lead for the Europe, Middle East and Africa Masterbach business in 2016. 

With the acquisition of the Clariant Masterbatch business in July 2020, PolyOne Corporation has re-branded and has since then combined the global Masterbatch businesses of PolyOne and Clariant under the new Avient brand. Since January 2021, Norbert Merklein has taken the General Management position of the combined business in Region EMEA.
