Exhibitor Interview: CMG Granulators

Our next interview features Giorgio Santella, CEO of CMG Granulators

Specialising in size reduction solutions for the plastics recycling industry, CMG Granulators offers a range of equipment and expertise to tackle today's recycling challenges.

Can you provide a brief overview of your company and the products/services you'll be showcasing at the event?

We design and produce size reduction solutions for the plastics recycling industry, represented by granulators, shredders, integral feed conveyors, regrind evacuation and conveying systems and powder separation executions.

We operate in both post-industrial and post-consumer recycling. In post-industrial we supply complete solutions to shred/grind, dedust and bag the regrind. In post-consumer, along with supplying new production lines, we support the industry with the replacement of old/outdated granulators and shredders in existing washing lines, so to increase capacity and yield.

What recent trends or developments in the industry are you most excited about, and how do your products/services align with them?

Our distinguishing feature is innovation: we supply solutions that benefit from the latest methods of design and engineering and use the most advanced materials, components and controls. The recycling industry is developing at a considerable pace and requires new solutions day by day. More and more polymers, of different grade and shape, are to be recycled, and we support such trend by offering our expertise and competence along with our engineering capabilities.

Could you share a success story or case study demonstrating how your products/services have benefited a customer?

One outstanding feature of our solutions is represented by the extreme high level of operational efficiency, both for energy utilisation and for maintenance requirements. We claim our products as those with the lowest TCO. I am sharing a case history we published a year or so ago, describing a high capacity post-consumer plastic recycling system.

Will you be conducting any demonstrations or interactive activities at the event? If so, what can attendees expect?

We will not have any equipment on display. Any machinery would be too big in both footprint and height to be put on display. However, we will have illustrative material and videos to show any possible interested party what we do and how.

What are your company's goals for the future, and how do you see yourselves contributing to the evolving industry landscape?

One of the services we supply very successfully to the plastics recycling industry is upgrade packages for existing/old/legacy granulators and shredders. In several circumstances, particularly in post-consumer plastics recycling, the granulator or the shredder need replacement after a duty period ranging between 10 and 20 years. What we offer our customers is the replacement of such piece of equipment with a modern one, to obtain capacity increase, energy utilisation optimisation and reduced maintenance. Our goal is to become the industry benchmark for innovation and performance in plastics recycling.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s show?

We wish to acquire further visibility and advertise our innovative solutions. Granulation and shredding are not perceived by the industry as technologies encompassing innovation. For too many years there has not been a player in such category of machinery that focused on innovation. Well, we are that player today and attend this show to spread such message throughout the plastics recycling industry.
