Exhibitor interview: RAFF Plastics

We have Caroline Van der Perre, Managing Director of RAFF Plastics, is up next in our exhibitor interview series. They will be exhibiting at the Plastics Recycling World Expo.

As a plastics specialist, RAFF Plastics collects industrial plastic waste and cleaned post-consumer waste for reuse. We recycle and process the plastic into new ready-to-use granules and regrind in polypropylene (PP), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polystyrene (PS) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?

RAFF Plastics stands for full service. We offer recycled plastic as regrind or granules. With our experience, know-how and innovation, we can find a solution to all industrial demands. Both for the processing of the waste and for the development of recovered basic materials.

Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?

In 2023 RAFF Plastics is installing a new line for the recycling of PP big bags.  We want to recycle 10,000 tons of PP post consumer big bags a year.  With this circular economy project, we want to supply the recycled big bags to the producers of new big bags.

What are the biggest challenges facing the industry today, and how can this be overcome?

We are facing at this moment a few challenges; EU legislations, dropping prime prices, weak demand for recycled materials at this moment, mechanical recycling versus chemical recycling, etc.

How can this be overcome?  Clear EU rules and legislation, implementing recycled content asap etc.

How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years?

The demand for recycled materials will increase, so our sector must develop quickly.  More recycling capacity in Europe is needed.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s show?

We are looking forward to meeting our colleagues, customers and suppliers on the show.  The show is also a good opportunity to meet new contacts, to inform them about RAFF Plastics activities.
