Exhibitor Interview: NanoXplore

We had the pleasure to interview Vince Livoti, NanoXplore’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing to discuss their graphene technology and how it improves the performance, processing, and sustainability of plastics by allowing the increased use of recycled content while also reducing costs.

With a focus on addressing the evolving needs of their customers through innovation and partnership, NanoXplore is excited to make an impact at the upcoming Compounding World Expo with their graphene-based additives.

Can you provide a brief overview of your company and the products/ services you'll be showcasing at the event?

Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec with manufacturing facilities across North America and Europe, NanoXplore provides graphene powder, graphene-enhanced plastic masterbatches, and composite products to the transportation, packaging, electronics, and industrial sectors. We are a leader in the graphene market with the world’s largest automated graphene production facility at 4,000-metric tons per year. Our patented technology, GrapheneBlack™, improves strength, reduces costs, and allows for increased recycled content in products.

What recent trends or developments in the industry are you most excited about, and how do your products/ services align with them?

In the industry, one of the most exciting recent trends/ challenges is the increasing integration of recycled resins into both consumer and industrial applications. Our products are well-aligned with this development, as we utilize our GrapheneBlackTM to enhance the barrier and mechanical properties of thermoplastics. This not only supports lightweighting but also allows for a higher percentage of post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Could you share a success story or case study demonstrating how your products/ services have benefited a customer?

We recently commercialized a product line with an automotive tier-1 client to improve the abrasion resistance of nylon components, which resulted in significantly increased product durability and performance. Additionally, our graphene-enhanced polypropylene (PP) provided improved strength in PCR waste streams, while our graphene demonstrated in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) excellent environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) for consumer packaging. These case studies illustrate how our innovative and cost-conscious solutions effectively address specific challenges and deliver tangible benefits to our clients.

What are your company's goals for the future, and how do you see yourselves contributing to the evolving industry landscape?

Our company’s goal for the future is to demonstrate how GrapheneBlackTM can become a cost-effective and versatile tool within the industry. We aim to position GrapheneBlackTM as a sustainable alternative to carbon black, strength additive in low-quality post-consumer recycled (PCR) streams and improve chemical resistance in consumer packaging. By advancing these applications, we intend to contribute significantly to the evolving industry landscape and support the development of more sustainable and high-performance materials.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s show?

This year, we are most excited about showcasing how our GrapheneBlackTM solution can address some of the plastic industry's greatest challenges. We look forward to demonstrating how plastic compounders can leverage graphene to achieve true plastic circularity, meet increasing consumer demands, and transition to more sustainable additives. Our focus will be on highlighting the advanced solutions our products offer to support these essential industry objectives.
