Exhibitor interview: Altug Plastik

In our next exhibitor series, Yu Zhang, Factory International Business Director of Altug Plastik, shared their insight into the challenges and opportunities from the industry.

Altug Plastik, a Turkish recycled plastic manufacturer, are dedicated to make more used plastics be recycled again and to creating a sustainable work that contributes toward a more circular economy. They have two main products, LDPE recycled Granule and Packaging/Garbage bag.

What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?

I think our advantage is that we are capable to control the quality from the beginning till the end thanks to our complete circulation for recycled plastic. From “raw materials' collection” to “semi-manufactured product”-LDPE recycled granule, and we use our own granule to product the “final product”-packaging/garbage bag.

Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?

For our LDPE recycled granule, we use the automatic self-cleaning laser filter system, so our granule is very clean and the quality is stable. For our bags, we use Hemingstone cutting machine which can give very stable quality and output.

What are the biggest challenges facing the industry today, and how can this be overcome?

As we produce the recycled granule, our price mostly be compared with the virgin granule, and once the virgin materials price drop too much, the user will choose the virgin one instead of the recycled one. Second, the market demand is very limited at this moment; Third, the factory production costs have sharply increased due to the inflation. All these are the challenges for us in my opinion.

The authorities shall encourage the factories to put more recycled materials into their products, and the manufacturer like us shall continue to do the research to develop the recycling technologies.

How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years?

I believe the recycled plastic sector will grow in the next five to ten years because more people from all over the world are aware of the importance of plastic recycling, this will lead to higher demand for recycled plastic.

New recycling technologies will also be developed, helping us produce more and save energy.

More and more manufacturers will focus on creating their own closed-loop recycling systems to support circular economy practices.

Well, I see a lot of potential in the recycled plastic market, and we can further accelerate the growth of our sector and contribute to a more sustainable future.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s show?

At this year’s show, I am most excited about the opportunity to connect with new customers and explore potential cooperation. Expanding our export market is a key objective for our factory, and I am looking forward to showcasing our products and discussing how we can meet the needs of international customers. I am also excited to learn about the latest industry trends, network with industry professionals. I believe this year's show will provide a platform for valuable connections and growth for our business.
